The Immigrant Theater Group
The Immigrant Learning Center’s Theater Class writes and performs plays about the immigrant experience. These plays are videotaped, and selected performances are produced as DVDs that can be seen on community television stations throughout the country. The DVDs can also be purchased for $7 by any interested individual or organization. DVDs that are currently available include:
- Immigrants: The Real Story is a compilation of three performances presented by the Immigrant Theater Group. Scenes from the “Immigration Simulation Game Show,” “If You Could Hear My Voice” and “Bring Them Back” tell the true stories and struggles of the immigrant experience.
- The Long Road to Boston tells the true story of an ILC student who fled the violence in Haiti. This is a moving tale that depicts many Haitians’ struggle to survive and how the unstable political situation in that country has led to violence and poverty.
