Funding Sources
The ILC is a not-for-profit corporation supported by tax-deductible charitable contributions. Approximately 80 percent of The ILC’s funding comes from private sources such as individuals, small businesses, foundations, corporations and proceeds from ILC events. Twenty percent comes from the public sector. A financial audit is conducted annually and an annual report is filed with the Attorney General’s Office of Massachusetts. The school is funded, in part, by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Mystic Valley Elder Services and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs and the cities of Malden and Medford, Massachusetts. A majority of The ILC’s funding is applied directly to:
- English As a Second Language (ESL) Classes
- Computer Literacy Instruction
- Preparation for GED (High School Equivalency), TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language for college entry), U.S. citizenship and other professional exams
- Student Support Services
