Julia Silverio came to Salem, MA, from the Dominican Republic as a girl. With her command of English and generosity of spirit, she worked out of her home to help other immigrants to purchase homes, gain citizenship and access insurance in Lawrence, MA, before opening Silverio Insurance Agency.
The agency’s revenue grew 56 percent from $1.6 million to $2.5 million from 2009 to 2011. Silverio was the winner in the Business Growth category at The Immigrant Learning Center, Inc.’s Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards 2012.
