Malee Thai was a Cambodian refugee who arrived in the U.S. in 1981 by way of Thailand and the Philippines after escaping genocide in her homeland.

With the help of her husband, she started a small business in Lowell, MA, that grew into an iconic Lowell establishment in the middle of “Cambodiatown”: Pailin City market, restaurant and function hall.
