Jair came to the United States from Cape Verde to pursue a better education, but his lack of English skills created a major barrier for him. It took discovering The ILC to put him on a path to a better life.
“The ILC helped me a lot. I learned a lot from the center … I improved my English reading, writing and grammar,” explained Jair. Once his English improved, he could enroll in community college, then in a master’s program at Boston University.
It took studying up to 12 hours a day, but Jair now has a master’s degree in cybersecurity and a promising career in front of him. He has a message for The ILC and our immigrant students:
It’s your support that gave him the “key that opens all doors.” Thank you for everything you do.
