When Naina learned her husband’s job would take them from their home in Brazil to Massachusetts, she worried about her own career as a biologist. Although she had work authorization, Naina did not speak English and knew that would be an obstacle to finding work in her field. The Immigrant Learning Center had her back.

When she came to The ILC, not only did she learn English quickly, but she also learned job search skills from our education and career advisors. According to Naina, “[The ILC] was really helpful for me because I did my resume here and I put [it on] Indeed and LinkedIn, and I have some job offers, and I did some interviews, and I got a job.”

Naina now works as an animal care technician at a Cambridge pharmaceutical company. Her new English skills also helped her pass the road test and get her driver’s license.
